It’s a shame Jacobs could not have lived a bit longer — people are finally coming around to the pro-city, anti-car viewpoint that she had been espousing since 1961 (in Death and Life she is especially critical of Los Angeles, and since then most cities in North America seemed to take L.A. as a development model). Hopefully more urban planners will refer to Jacobs’ work as cities begin their urban retrofit.
