I can’t believe I worked for B&N College Bookstores for over two years and never knew it was a completely separate company. I mean, I knew they were separate, but I thought the College Bookstores were already a wholly owned subsidiary. Go figure.

Textbooks may indeed be on the way out, but when the mother of all B&N corporate insiders needs a payday, all market research is pushed aside. But don’t worry – I’m sure a hardy team of staffers (all of whom have Riggio’s signature on their paychecks) will undoubtedly vet the transaction and opine that B&N shareholders aren’t getting screwed on the deal.
