Why in the world would anyone even WANT to move on from lesbian pulp novels?

  2. Rachel says:

Vanessa Brown let me touch one of her first editions! (And that isn’t a euphemism for anything, besides pure awesome.) She came into my bookshop after doing that interview, and she was just carrying it around with her – I assume because of the interview, not because she just happens to keep LM Montgomery first editions in her satchel.

Thanks, Vanessa! You’ve made me want to reread all my LM Montgomery again! … except maybe not Akin To Anne.

Pure awesome indeed! I have an edition of Kilmeny of the Orchard from the first half of the century and the book itself is so lovely and old and the story within is so sweet and simple, it takes me back every time. Though I have to agree with Vanessa, The Blue Castle is the richest of Montgomery’s works. I think we should start a contingent to work with the Austen lovers for greater recognition of Montgomery’s other tales (than Anne).
