King is releasing a bunch of short videos online to supplement a short story coming up in his new collection this fall. As Ulin points out at the LAT blog, this is a marketing ploy. But as he also points out, it’s always interesting to watch Stephen King pull a marketing scam. Oh, come on. Don’t “pfffft” at me. You know you’re going to read it and go watch the videos. Come on! It’s Stephen King! (Dudes, didn’t he quit writing?)
(UPDATE: Okay……. I just watched the first seven episodes and they’re pretty fucking creepy. I mean, this doesn’t compare to when I read Salem’s Lot when I was eight and then my dad stood outside my bedroom window in the middle of the night and said, “Geordie…. open the window….” That was future therapy creepy. This was mostly goosebump freaky.)
