Wright, Morrison and Vonnegut are porn

Only in the US of A. I shouldn’t be so quick to say that, but… well, what the hell. Only in the US of A. Apparently there is some question whether these authors have literary merit or only appeal prurient sexual interest.

The office of U.S. Attorney Stephen J. Murphy has forwarded a complaint about inappropriate books assigned to Howell High School students to the FBI, a spokeswoman for Murphy said. Gina Bilaya said that while the referral is routine, it also indicates that Murphy is taking the complaint seriously.

Vicki Fyke of the Livingston Organization for Values in Education made the complaint, alleging that assignments of books by Richard Wright, Pulitzer winner Toni Morrison and Kurt Vonnegut violate laws against distribution of pornography to minors because they contain depictions of sex and rape, and obscene language. “The Freedom Writers Diary” by Erin Gruwell is also named by Fyke.

Sigh. Please end, eight year nightmare. Please end.

Ironically, this is the administration that has been shown to be filled with authors of books/stories with no literary value and more likely to be considered porn by persons with brains.

“Livingston Organization for Values in Education.”

The initialism, just in case you missed it, is LOVE.

    Pretty catchy, eh?

Would that be like George Orwell’s Ministry of Love?

Would one of values be “ignorance is strength”?

That really is gut-wrenchingly, terminally, hopelessly depressing. WTF is going on here? I thought society was supposed to advance? If this is true I don’t want to live. At least, not with them. These are the kind of people I would cross the road to avoid. They give society a bad name. And they should’t be allowed to get away with their bigotry either.

What do you think would happen if Vicki Fyke lived in the school district where “How to Make Love to a Black Woman” was part of the curriculum? Do you think her head would explode?

Also, her last name is a little too close to a four-letter curse word that refers to a sexual act. Hardly the type of role model we want in LOVE. I say we write a letter formally requesting to have her thrown off. Such pornographic inuendo from the leader of LOVE will not be tolerated. Think of the children!
