Judith Regan: fired. You know it’s bad when Rupert thinks you’re too scuzzy to keep around.

Judith Regan wasn’t fired for trying to publish an offensive book. She was fired for losing money and making the Murdoch empire look bad.
If the public criticism of O.J. Simpson’s book had been muted, and if the book had been sent to bookstores, Regan would still have her job. She’d be revelling in the controversy and expecting a Christmas bonus.
Instead, she’ll be looking for another job. She’ll find one, too. Lots of publishing firms would snap up an executive with her successful track record.

‘Judith Regan wasn’t fired for trying to publish an offensive book. She was fired for losing money and making the Murdoch empire look bad.’
Exactly. And by being fired, it’s not as if anyone is accepting responsibility for anything. It’s pretty shameful that it required a ‘national outrage’ for Murdoch et al to drop the book. What was their moral compass doing before that? Spinning happily about, counting the dollar signs? One wonders.
Fall guys are simply that. They take the fall, the problem, the ‘bad’ people, the issue, nothing is resolved. But someone has fallen, the public gets their blood, lets all move on and forget that one of the more powerful men in the world is willing to allow such a callow, pathetic stunt as OJ’s novel. If I did it. Shameful.

I’d like to add my voice to this chorus.

Then all you have to do, Nav, is type something absolutely plainly obvious to everyone.
