He might be boosting Chomksy’s sales, but he’s really killing the Bush-is-on-his-way-out buzz. Somebody ought to give bold third-world leftists a class in rhetoric and oration.

Yeah, but Chavez didn’t bother me half as much as seeing Mahmoud Ahmadinejad waving around a copy of ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ and telling everyone at the UN how much it changed his life.

Ah, c’mon, don’t be so hard on Hugo. He’s tired of Bushite and wants the world to know.

Chavez’s little speech may have seemed like some kind of fanatical rant but how else can you
get so many Americans reading about and questioning their government’s policies? You have to
remember that Chavez, like most in Latin America, have been reared on the writings of Garcia
Marquez, Asturia and Naruda. When America starts speaking about the spread of democracy, Latin
Americans start shaking in their boots; they are all too familiar with events such as
the United Fruit Company/CIA scandal in the 1950 or the Iran Contra Affair. I think Chavez said
what he did, in the manner that he did, in an attempt to awaken the American people. He is
asking them to read, question and attempt to understand the hidden agendas and inner
workings of their own government. Good for Chavez!

And now, on The Subject of Book Sales, let’s hope this doesn’t become THENEXTBIGTHING in guerilla marketing…
